One of longest-lived and largest oaks at 80 x 80' or more. Widespread throughout eastern and plain states. Tolerant of drought, urban conditions like pollution and heat, and salt. Good choice for parkland or large yards. Acorns (produced after 35 years or so) provide food for wood ducks, wild turkeys, white-tailed deer, rabbits, mice, squirrels and other rodents, while foliage feeds important caterpillars.
