Plants in this genus are another selection from entomologist Dr. Doug Tallamy. Blue vervain is a fairly common fast-growing, hardy, tall (to 6’) plant for pond margins and stream edges. Good for soil stabilization and a burst of deep blue color from July-September. Thrives in damp and wet soils. Attracts at least 11 butterfly/moth species as well as a variety of bees, and songbirds occasionally eat its seeds.
